Taiwan Travels: Taroko National Park

Around the end of 2016, I did sort of a mini-tour of Asia. The stops being: Taiwan, Tokyo, and Thailand. I'll call it my Triple T(ea) Trip cause who doesn't like alterations! Anywho, the next few travel photo post will be from this trip.

My first batch of photos was taken at Taroko National Park. The Park is located on the east side of Taiwan and is named after the massive gorge that runs through. It was kind of rainy when we arrived, but there are some beautiful sights to be seen. You get forests, cliffs, waterfalls, and even shrines. Looking back at the photos, it reminded me a bit of the Faron region from Breath of the Wild... man I'm a nerd.

Photography wise, the biggest frustration I remember was when we reached Taroko Gorge. Now the landscape was incredible. The trails/road where carves right into the cliffside, water was rushing below. I just couldn't find a way to capture the full scale of the landscape.

I didn't have a wide enough lens and I don't think the weather helped much either, as everything seemed flat. So I decided to focus on smaller points of interests. And that’s how I got this image that I kinda like:

Tired to capture the water motion by setting the shutter to 1/8 second

Well, that’s it. What's the moral of the story? Umm... get closer if you can't make a wide shot work... I think? Hope this post wasn't too much of a mess. I'll leave you with my favorite shot from this trip. It's not much, but for some reason, I just find it interesting. It kinda looks like half the image is in color and the other half is in black and white.
